OHS Programs

At this time, the Ottawa Humane Society requires clients of its pet food bank, wellness clinic and spay/neuter service to reside in Ottawa. The OHS is a charity that relies on donations from Ottawa’s community to provide life-saving care and support for Ottawa’s animals. The OHS encourages pet owners in need outside of Ottawa to explore the supports offered in their local community.

Emergency Pet Food Bank

The Ottawa Humane Society (OHS) helps distribute pet food for pets in need in two ways: through our Emergency Pet Food Bank onsite at the OHS and through pop-up events in the community.

Eligible clients may request a total of six emergency pet food pick-up appointments. This generally provides up to six months of pet food in total, for up to three pets.
The first step is to fill out an application form. Once we review your application, we will send you our calendar booking link with available pick-up times.

Wellness Clinics​

Basic Veterinary Care For Pets in the Community
The OHS offers low-cost wellness (preventive care) appointments for dogs and cats whose families may not have access to veterinary services. Preventive care helps protect your pet’s health and helps to prevent disease.

Emergency Pet Sheltering

To support members of the community, the OHS offers a Sheltering Animals From Emergencies (SAFE) program. The program offers pet owners the opportunity to have their pet(s) fostered by OHS foster volunteers when experiencing housing instability, fleeing violence, seeking physical or mental health treatment, or experiencing other emergencies.
