Sadly, we do not like posting about deceased animals but it’s important to do so. Yesterday we posted about a deceased dog in a flooded field. Our amazing admin Sasha Hill and her fiancé Sean Pumphrey and two incredibly amazing followers Melissa Levac and Ginette Massicotte Lafrange teamed up to rescue this dog. They had to take a canoe to get to him. Spike had been missing since November. Had it not for posting this on our page yesterday, Spike’s owners might have never known what happened to him.
Here is what Mélissa Levac says "Spike was a beautiful 14 year old pitbull who had cancer and was taking meds for it. In the days leading to his disappearance he began to have seizures. He simply left his loving home and peacefully passed away in a farmer's field about 5km away from his home in late November." Sasha and Sean delicately retrieved Spike via canoe. They almost tipped over a few times on their way back to 'shore'! "When I examined Spike's collar and saw that he had a tag with his full name, address and phone number, I was excited but also felt sadness for having to bear the bad news to the owners". As Ginette mentioned, she called the owner who was without a doubt surprised and emotional on the phone.
We truly have amazing people here:)
